About this aluminum tubing

This aluminum tubing is a straight aluminium alloy tube supplied in round or square section for tent pole sets, bike frames and other light structural or decorative parts. It is the tube itself rather than a finished assembly, cut and finished the way the part needs, so a pole maker, a frame builder or a metal fabricator can build with it directly.

Alloy, temper and wall

The tube is made in aluminium alloy, in the 7000 series grades named on the product sheet, and the temper and wall are agreed for the order. Alloy and temper decide how the tube behaves when it is bent, drilled or welded, so they are fixed before the tube is drawn or extruded rather than chosen afterwards. Wall thickness is quoted for the tube you order, from thin sections for light poles to a heavier wall for load-bearing parts.

Diameter, wall and cut length

Outside diameter and wall follow the buyer's own drawing, and the cut length is made to that drawing as well, so the tube arrives at the size the assembly calls for. Where a part needs several different tube sizes, they can be quoted together as one order.

Surface and colour

Aluminum tubing can be supplied mill finished, or anodized, polished, powder coated or sand blasted, and colour anodizing can be matched to the colour you ask for. The surface choice follows the way the part is used, because a decorative frame and a working pole do not call for the same finish.
