What These Tent Poles Are

These tent poles are collapsible aluminium sets built for camping tents and tarp shelters. Each pole is supplied as a set of sections joined by an internal shockcord, so the sections fold and spring back into place during assembly. Two families cover most camping needs: a flexible 7000 series pole for curved tent frames, and a larger 6061 tarp pole for straight, load-bearing supports. Both can be cut and colour matched to suit a specific tent model.

The 7000 Series Flexible Poles

Flexible poles are made from 7001 aluminium alloy in diameters of 8.5 mm, 9.5 mm and 11 mm, with wall thickness options of 0.7 mm, 0.75 mm and 1 mm. They are formed into sections and joined by shockcord: 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 sections per pole. Assembled lengths range from about 3.22 m to 4.82 m, and one set contains two poles. Standard colours are gold, red, blue, green, black and grey. The thick shockcord keeps the sections together during assembly, and the solid end tips seat into pole sleeves and grommets.

The Aviation Series Tarp Poles

The larger tarp poles use 6061 aluminium alloy in a 30 mm diameter with a 1.2 mm wall and an assembled length of about 234.5 cm. They are commonly supplied in red, white, black, gold or grey. The rough aluminium tip increases friction so a guy line grips instead of slipping, a button connection locks each joint to keep the pole rigid and reduce shaking, and the foot can be a pointed tip for soft ground or a non-skid rubber foot for hard surfaces.

Selection And Pre-order Checklist

Match the pole to the tent first: measure the required assembled length and count the sections so the packed length fits the tent bag. Choose the 7000 series when the frame bends into an arch, and the thicker 6061 tarp pole when a straight, stiffer support is needed. Confirm the section diameter, wall thickness and temper, the joint and foot type, and the colour. State the exact assembled and packed lengths, and whether cut-to-length or pre-bent poles are required. Confirm the packing method and the accessory set before ordering, and test a sample set on the actual tent when the fit is critical.

Because the joints are standardised, single poles or complete sets can be reordered as spares, and the same shockcord, tips and feet are used across the range, which keeps replacement simple when one section of a pole set is lost or bent.
