Product overview
The 40 x 120 mm T-slot aluminium extrusion profile is a rectangular structural section extruded in alloy 6063. Continuous slots run along the length of the profile on its faces, and these slots accept standard T-nuts, so brackets, panels, hinges and other fittings can be fastened at almost any position along the section. Because the joints are bolted rather than welded, a frame built from this profile can be assembled, adjusted and taken apart again with hand tools.
Section and slot geometry
The cross section measures 40 mm by 120 mm, which gives the profile a stiff, flat-sided body for spans where a lighter 40 x 40 mm section would deflect. The slots are sized to take standard series T-nuts and M6 to M8 fasteners, depending on which groove is used. The slotted faces also work as mounting surfaces for panels, doors and access covers, and end caps and corner brackets from the same T-slot system can be fitted to close the ends and join two profiles at a corner.
Material and finish
The profile is produced in 6063 aluminium alloy, the general-purpose extrusion alloy used for architectural and industrial framing. Alloy 6063 is chosen for its extrusion surface quality, its formability and its behaviour in indoor and sheltered outdoor service. The section is supplied mill finish as standard, and can be ordered in natural anodised, black anodised or powder-coated finishes where a specific appearance or a coloured frame is required.
Typical applications
Common uses include machine guard frames, safety fencing, workbench and assembly bench structures, equipment enclosures, conveyor side rails, display and shelving frames, and general modular framing. The profile is also used for test rigs and prototype fixtures, where being able to reposition a joint without cutting the section again shortens the build cycle.
Fabrication and assembly
The profile can be cut to length with a carbide-tipped saw, drilled and tapped on the end face for end connections, and joined with internal anchors, corner brackets or gussets from the same T-slot system. Aluminium is light enough to handle without lifting equipment at typical frame lengths, and indoors it does not need painting to keep its appearance.
