Product Overview

This extruded aluminum tube is a round section pressed from aluminium alloy through a heated die and then cooled, straightened and cut to length. Extrusion produces a seamless tube with a consistent wall around the full circumference, so the section stays round from one end to the other.

The tube is supplied with threaded ends. A thread cut or rolled onto each end lets two lengths of tube, or a tube and a fitting, be joined with a screw connection instead of welding. That keeps assembly quick and lets a frame or a support be taken apart again for transport, maintenance or adjustment on site.

Material and Production

The tube is made from aluminium alloy, a light metal with a high strength to weight ratio and good resistance to atmospheric corrosion. A natural oxide layer forms on the surface and protects the metal in normal indoor and outdoor service. Because the tube is extruded in one piece, there is no seam along the length and no joint to weaken the section under load.

Threaded Ends

Threads can be cut on the outside of the tube or formed inside the bore, depending on how the joint is designed. External threads allow a tube to be screwed into a socket or a coupling, while internal threads accept a threaded insert or a stud. The thread length, pitch and diameter are set when the order is confirmed so that the parts mate with the fittings already in use.

Quality Control

Each run is inspected for dimensions, straightness, thread fit and surface condition. Outside diameter, wall thickness and length are checked against the agreed specification, and the thread is gauged before the tube leaves the workshop. Tubes are also checked for scratches, dents and extrusion marks before packing.
