Product Overview

The telescopic aluminum tube is a round extruded and cold-drawn tube built for adjustable-length assemblies. It is produced from 6063 T5 alloy, a heat-treated aluminium grade that combines moderate strength with a good surface finish, so the tube can serve as a visible structural or sliding element. A screw-lock connection lets one section slide inside another and then be fixed at the required extension.

Material and Temper

The base material is 6063 aluminium in the T5 temper. This alloy extrudes well, which suits long, thin, uniform tubes with tight control on the outer diameter and wall thickness. The inside surface is clean and smooth, so a smaller tube slides freely inside a larger one. Where more strength is needed, other aluminium alloys and tempers can be discussed with the supplier before ordering.

Telescopic Screw-Lock Construction

Each joint uses a screw-lock sleeve. The sleeve sits at the end of the outer section and clamps the inner section when the screw is tightened by hand. This gives a continuously adjustable length instead of a few fixed positions, and it can be released and reset as often as needed. The clamping force is spread around the circumference of the tube, which limits local deformation on thin walls.

Surface Finish Options

Tubes can be supplied in mill finish or with an anodised surface in clear, black or bronze tones. An anodised layer hardens the surface slightly and protects the aluminium from handling marks, which is useful on parts that are folded repeatedly. Powder coating in a specified colour is another option when a painted appearance is required. Coating thickness on sliding sections has to be controlled so the inner tube still enters the outer one easily.

The alloy, temper, end machining and the number of telescopic stages can be adjusted within the limits of the extrusion and cold-drawing process. Cut lengths and the number of screw-lock sleeves per set are decided together with the buyer.
