Aluminum Alloy Connectors For Tent And Awning Poles

These aluminum alloy connectors join pole sections in tents, awnings, canopies and gazebos. They are machined and finished to slip into or over common pole diameters, giving a firm and repeatable joint that keeps a frame square when it is pitched and struck again through a season.

Connector Types

Sizing And Fit

Connectors are made to match a stated outside diameter and wall thickness, with a sliding or press fit chosen to suit the assembly method. Where a pole is swaged, the connector size is matched to the reduced end so the joint stays flush and the cord path remains clear.

Material And Finish

The connectors are produced from aluminum alloy and can be supplied with a mill, anodized or powder coated finish to match the poles they join. Anodized parts are available in clear and in dyed colours.

How A Pole Joint Is Assembled

A pole is usually built by feeding a shock cord through the sections and then joining each pair with a ferrule that is crimped or pinned in place. The connector keeps the two ends in line while the cord holds the sections together when the tent is folded, so the fit has to be close enough to stay rigid without making the pole difficult to take apart.

Available Sizes

Connectors are produced for the outside diameters most often used on camping poles, and custom sizes can be made where a pole uses a non standard tube. Inner and outer fitting versions are both available, depending on whether the connector slides inside the pole or caps over the outside.

Sampling And Repeat Orders

A new connector size is produced against a drawing or a sample of the pole, and a small trial batch can be supplied for fit testing before a full order is released. Once the size is confirmed, repeat orders are made to the same drawing so that later batches match the first.

Assembly Notes

Connectors can be supplied loose or pre threaded with shock cord, depending on whether the pole is assembled by the user or at the factory.

Quality Control

Diameter, wall thickness and fit are checked against the agreed drawing before packing, and samples can be submitted for approval.
