This aluminum alloy tubing is made from 3003 in the H14 temper and supplied as a seamless pipe in custom lengths. 3003 is an aluminum-manganese alloy chosen where good formability and dependable corrosion behaviour matter more than maximum strength. The seamless construction means the tube wall is formed as one piece with no welded joint running along its length, which suits parts that must be bent, coiled or pressurised.

Alloy and Temper

3003 is a non-heat-treatable alloy with manganese as its main addition. The H14 temper is a strain-hardened condition that gives the tube more stiffness than soft O temper while leaving useful ductility for bending and forming. Because the temper comes from work hardening rather than heat treatment, the mechanical state of the tube stays predictable once it has been formed into its final shape.

Seamless Tube Construction

A seamless tube starts from a solid billet that is pierced and worked into a hollow section, so the wall is continuous around the circumference. There is no longitudinal seam to act as a weak line in a bend, and no weld bead on the inside bore. That makes seamless tubing a common choice for tube that will be bent to a radius, expanded at the ends, or used to carry a medium under pressure.

Forming and Joining

3003 H14 bends, flanges and coils readily and can be welded by the usual aluminum processes, including TIG and MIG with a suitable filler. It can also be brazed and soldered where the joint design allows. Because the alloy is not heat treatable, welding softens the area next to the weld rather than changing the temper of the whole part.
