Aluminum Cable Trunking and Wireway Troughs
This trunking is an aluminum trough that carries electrical cable along a wall, ceiling or machine frame and keeps it out of the way. Aluminum is chosen because it is light enough to lift and fix without extra help, it does not rust in ordinary indoor conditions, and it can be cut, drilled and bent on site so a run can be adjusted to the building instead of the other way round.
Sections and Covers
Trunking is supplied in straight lengths and can be ordered open or with a clip-on or screw-fixed cover. Bends, tees, crosses, reducers and end caps are available so a run can turn a corner or branch without leaving the cable exposed. Where several cables travel together, a wider section keeps them separated and makes later additions easier.

Why Aluminum Trunking Is Used
Compared with plastic trunking, aluminum holds its shape over long spans, does not become brittle with age and can take a metal fixing directly. Compared with steel it is lighter to handle and does not need painting to stay presentable indoors. The metal body also spreads heat away from cables better than plastic, which helps in runs that carry a number of circuits together.
Choosing the Right Section
Section width and depth are chosen from the number and diameter of the cables that will run inside. As a working rule the trunking should be wide enough to keep the cables in a single layer with a little room left for a later addition, because a run filled edge to edge is hard to work on afterwards. Cover type is a separate choice: a clip-on cover is quicker to open for inspection, while a screw-fixed cover holds better where the run is long or is fixed overhead.
Where It Is Installed
Trunking is used for cable management in workshops, control panels, machine frames, lighting runs, data and server rooms, and commercial fit-out work. It is also used in exhibition stands and temporary installations where the cable has to be protected but still be easy to reach and change later.
Length, section size, cover type and accessory pieces are confirmed with the buyer before production, and runs are packed in order so they can be installed without sorting on site.
