Aluminum Extrusion CNC Machined Enclosure Case

This aluminum extrusion CNC machined enclosure case begins as a 6063 or 6061 aluminum alloy profile. The profile is extruded, cut to length, CNC machined and surface finished in one continuous flow, so the wall thickness, internal ribs and mounting structure come from the die while the openings, threads and recesses come from the machining centre. The result is a rigid housing with a clean anodized surface and tight dimensional control across the whole batch.

Customization scope

Almost every dimension of the case can be customized. Length, width, height, corner radius, wall thickness and the position of internal partitions are set from the customer drawing. Hole patterns for connectors, switches, indicators and cable glands are programmed from the CAD file, which means the finished case fits the electronics without hand rework. Colour, surface texture and laser marking are also selectable.

Applications

The enclosure is widely used for industrial control boxes, LED driver housings, power supply cases, outdoor sensor housings, communication equipment, medical instruments and consumer electronic products. Extrusion instead of die casting keeps the tooling cost low and allows long sections to be cut to any required length, which suits both prototype runs and volume production. Because the profile is anodized after machining, the cut faces and milled pockets keep a consistent colour and stay protected against oxidation.

Manufacturing capability

Extrusion, CNC machining, drilling, tapping, deburring and surface treatment are completed in house. Dimensions are produced to the drawing, and samples or first articles can be submitted for approval before mass production. Revisions of an existing design are handled by updating the machining program, so a modified version does not require a new extrusion die.
