Heavy Duty Aluminum Tent Pole

This tent pole is made from aluminium tubing and is built for shelters that are put up and taken down many times. The wall is thick enough to resist bending in wind while the metal keeps the pole light enough to carry and handle.

Aluminium does not rust, so a damp field, a wet pack-up or a season of outdoor use will not corrode the pole the way a plain steel section would. The surface is finished to protect the metal and to give a clean, even appearance.

Sections, Joints and Assembly

Poles are supplied as a set of sections that join end to end:

• Sections cut to equal lengths for a tidy folded bundle
• Ends swaged or fitted with a ferrule so one section slides into the next
• Elastic shock cord threaded through the sections where required
• Tips and feet shaped to seat in the tent sleeve and on the ground

A swaged joint gives each section a shoulder that stops it travelling too far and keeps the assembled pole straight. Where a pole must hold a set length, a push button or a twist lock can be added so the height is fixed without tools.

Sizes, Spares and Custom Orders

Poles are made in a range of diameters and lengths to suit different shelter sizes, from small dome tents to large marquees and gazebos. Spare sections can be ordered on their own, which lets a damaged pole be repaired instead of replaced.

The shock cord holds the sections in the right order and pulls them together while the pole is being fed through the tent sleeve. Once the pole is up, the cord keeps the joints under light tension so the sections do not separate when the shelter moves in the wind.

Wall thickness is matched to the span. A long pole that supports a heavy fly sheet needs a thicker wall to stay straight, while a short pole for a small tent can use a lighter tube that saves weight in the pack.

Ends can be cut square for a flush fit or shaped into a point for a pole that presses into the ground. Rubber or plastic feet can be fitted where the pole rests on a hard surface and would otherwise slide.

Colour and finish are chosen with the order. An anodised or coated surface protects the aluminium and can be matched to the rest of the shelter, and poles can be printed with a brand or size marking if the customer needs it.

For custom work we need the finished length of the assembled pole, the diameter, the number of sections and the way the sections should join. Bending, anodising and printing can be applied where a customer needs a specific shape or finish, and each set is bundled and labelled so the sections of one pole stay together in the bag.
