Aluminum Pipe for Floor Heating and Air Tubing

Aluminum pipe is a light, thermally responsive tube used in two different duties. Inside a hydronic floor heating panel it carries warm water and spreads heat across the slab; on a machine or a service run the same tube works as air tubing, feeding compressed or instrument air to cylinders, valves and actuators. Both duties ask the same thing: a clean, round, dimensionally consistent bore that behaves the same at the manifold as at the far end of the run.

How the Tube Is Made

Extrusion pushes heated aluminium alloy through a die, setting the outside profile and wall thickness in one pass and giving the tube a dense, homogeneous wall. Where a tighter tolerance is needed the tube is drawn over a mandrel, which refines roundness, thins the wall and improves the internal surface. Drawing keeps the bore concentric with the outside diameter, and that concentricity is what keeps pressure loss predictable along the run.

Why Aluminum Suits Both Duties

• Thermal response. Aluminium conducts heat quickly with a low thermal mass, so a floor heating circuit reacts sooner to supply temperature changes.
• Low weight. A light tube is easier to uncoil, bend and fix than a comparable steel or copper run.
• Corrosion behaviour. The natural oxide layer protects the surface, and extra surface treatment is available where service conditions demand it.
• Formability. Alloy tube bends and flares without cracking, so a run follows a panel, a machine frame or a building route with fewer joints.

Floor Heating Pipe

In a floor heating loop the tube is normally coiled, so a whole circuit can be laid as one continuous length with no joint buried in the screed. Fewer buried joints means fewer potential leaks and a lower pressure drop. The tube is laid on the insulation, fixed at the designed spacing and pressure tested before the screed is poured.

Air Tubing

As air tubing the same pipe carries compressed air, instrument air or pneumatic control air. A concentric bore keeps pressure drop predictable, so a tool at the end of a long run still receives the pressure the system was sized for. Long lengths can be bent to follow the machine or the building, cutting the number of fittings and the leak paths they create.

Choose aluminium pipe for floor heating when you want a fast-responding, joint-free circuit that lays flat and stays round at the bends. Choose aluminium air tubing when you want a light, corrosion-resistant line that keeps pressure drop low and bends around existing structures. Either way the bore is drawn concentric, so heat output in the floor and air pressure at the point of use stay steady.
