Large Diameter Aluminum Pipe with Machined Threaded Ends

Large diameter aluminum pipes are extruded from aluminium alloy billets and finished with a machined thread at each end, so long runs can be joined end to end without extra couplings. Threaded connections keep the bore aligned, speed up assembly on site and allow sections to be taken apart again for maintenance or transport.

A seamless extruded wall gives the pipe an even thickness around the full circumference, which helps it hold internal pressure and resist bending under load. Because aluminium weighs roughly one third of an equivalent steel section, a large pipe can be lifted and positioned by fewer people and needs lighter support brackets along its route.

What We Check Before Packing

Every batch passes the checks that decide how a threaded pipe behaves in service:

• Wall thickness measured at several points around the circumference
• Thread pitch and depth gauged against the mating connector
• Straightness verified over the full length
• Outer and inner diameter recorded before packing

Consistency matters when threaded pipes are assembled in series. If one section is slightly out of round the joint will not seal, so each length goes through the same checks and the thread is cut on the same machine settings. That keeps a replacement section interchangeable with pipes already installed.

Applications, Finishes and Custom Sizes

Typical uses include process pipework, water and air lines, heat exchange shells, balustrades and prefabricated frames. The alloy and temper are chosen together with the customer so the finished pipe suits the working environment, whether that is a dry indoor line or an outdoor run exposed to weather.

Because aluminum does not rust, an unfinished pipe already suits many damp or outdoor duties, and a protective finish simply extends that service life on aggressive sites. The metal also conducts heat well, so the same pipe is often used in cooling and heat exchange assemblies.

Where a run must change direction, the pipe can be supplied with a matching elbow so the thread still lines up at the joint. Ordering bends with the straight lengths keeps the assembly on the same recorded dimensions.
