This round aluminium tube is extruded in 6061 alloy and anodized for use as the load-bearing pipe of a greenhouse frame. It is the round profile that is cut, drilled and joined into the arch, ridge and side-wall structure of a growing house, and the same tube serves as the vertical and horizontal rail of hydroponic and indoor growing systems, where a light, stiff and rust-free member is needed.
Because the tube is drawn in a single alloy and finished in one anodizing batch, sections from the same order match in diameter and colour, which keeps a frame square when many pieces are bolted together.
Alloy and anodized finish
The tube is extruded in 6061 aluminium alloy and supplied in T6 temper, the heat-treated condition that gives the pipe its working strength. The surface is anodized, building a hard oxide layer that resists moisture, condensation and the dilute nutrient splash common in a growing house. Unlike a painted pipe, the anodized film is formed from the metal itself and does not flake, so the frame keeps its appearance through repeated wetting and drying cycles.
Greenhouse frame assembly
Used as the arch and purlin of a tunnel or ridge-and-furrow house, the tube carries the covering load and the wind load that acts on the structure. Because it is cut to length and can be drilled for the joint fittings, it is assembled on site into hoops, roof bars and wall rails without a welding step, and the round section is easy to clamp with standard frame clips.
Hydroponic and indoor growing systems
In hydroponic and vertical farming installations the tube forms the uprights that hold growing channels and the cross rails that carry lighting and irrigation lines. An anodized surface is chosen here because the environment stays humid and the frame must not corrode above the plants. The tube can be supplied in the lengths the rack needs, so the uprights and rails arrive ready to bolt together.
Cutting, drilling and packing
Tubes are supplied as mill lengths or cut to the customer size, with square or deburred ends, and can be drilled or punched for the fixing points of the frame. Each order is checked for surface condition before packing, and the tubes are bundled and wrapped so the anodized finish is protected in transit.
