Product Overview

This internally threaded aluminum tube is an aluminium pipe that carries machined threads inside the bore at one or both ends, so two sections can be joined with a threaded connector instead of welding. It is used where an assembly has to be screwed together, adjusted in length or taken apart for transport and service.

The tube keeps the light weight and corrosion resistance of aluminium while adding a reusable mechanical joint, which suits frames, rails, supports and equipment that is assembled and disassembled during its life.

Material and Construction

Threaded Connection Design

A threaded tube joint works when the wall around the thread is thick enough to take the load and the thread depth matches the tube wall. For thin tubes a thicker wall or a welded insert is used at the threaded end so the joint does not strip. Male threads, female threads and connector inserts can be combined to build a longer run of tube from shorter sections.

Tube is supplied in mill finish or with an anodized surface. Where parts are anodized, the threads are protected so the fit is not lost, and any coating added after threading is controlled to keep the thread within tolerance.
