High Precision Cold Drawn Aluminium Tubing
This aluminium tubing is produced by a cold drawn process that tightens the wall tolerance and improves the inner and outer surface compared with plain extrusion. The result is a straight, uniform tube that can be cut, bent and welded with predictable results, which matters when the tube becomes a visible structural part of a finished assembly.
Grades, temper and wall thickness
Tube is drawn in 6000 and 7000 series alloys and supplied in T3 through T8 temper, covering the common 5052, 6061, 2024 and 7075 designations used for lightweight frames. Wall thickness runs from 0.2 mm to 20 mm, hardness is quoted as hard, and the minimum aluminium content is 96%. Lengths are supplied from 1 m to 12 m or cut to a customer size.
Straightness and inner bore
Drawing over a mandrel keeps the bore round and concentric with the outside diameter, so inserts, end plugs and fittings slide in without reaming. Tube is straightened after drawing and supplied in random or fixed lengths up to 12 m, which reduces the number of joints needed when several metres of tube are used in one frame or rail run.
Shape and surface condition
Sections can be round, oval, square or irregular, including fully custom profiles drawn to a buyer drawing. Surface options are mill finish, anodised or powder coated. The tube carries a superior anti-scratch and anti-corrosion surface, which helps where parts are stacked and handled repeatedly before assembly or where the tube is used outdoors.
Fabrication services
In-house processing covers extrusion, cold drawing, hot rolling, bending, decoiling, welding, punching and cutting, and deep processing is available when a customer needs finished parts rather than raw tube. Because drawing and secondary operations run on the same site, dimensional tolerance of about 10% can be held consistently and curved or drilled tube can be supplied ready for fitment.
