What a T-Slotted Aluminium Extrusion Profile Is
A T-slotted aluminium extrusion profile is a straight aluminium section produced by pushing heated aluminium through a die, so that the finished profile carries a groove running along its whole length. This one is a 20 series profile in 6063 aluminium alloy, a square section with a T shaped slot that accepts nuts, brackets and connectors from the end or the side. The profile is anodized, which builds a thin oxide layer on the surface and gives the silver or black finish its resistance to handling marks and moisture. Because the slot runs the full length, a frame can be built, adjusted and rebuilt without welding, drilling or painting.
Where It Is Used

How to Choose the Right Profile
Start with the series. The 20 series number describes the slot and section size, and it decides which nuts and connectors fit, so the profile must match the fasteners already held. Then decide the section shape and wall: a square section is stiff in both directions, while a thinner wall saves weight and cost on light frames. Next confirm the alloy and temper. 6063 is the extrusion alloy used here and is chosen for its smooth surface and good anodizing response, and tempers from T3 to T8 with T5 are available. Surface treatment is the last choice: anodizing in silver or black is standard for these profiles, and it can be combined with the cutting, punching, bending, decoiling and welding operations needed to prepare the ends of a frame.
