7001/7075 Aluminum Alloy Tent Pole Tube for Outdoor Tent Frames

This product is an extruded round tube made from 7001 or 7075 aluminum alloy, produced specifically for tent pole applications. Both alloys are high-strength, heat-treatable grades that let a thin wall carry the bending load a pole sees when a tent is pitched, tensioned and used in wind. The tube leaves production as a straight extruded pipe and can be supplied with bending and welding services, arriving as a finished pole section rather than a raw length.

Alloy Choice: 7001 and 7075

7001 and 7075 both belong to the 7xxx series, where zinc is the main alloying element and magnesium and copper are added to raise strength. In practice they offer high tensile and yield strength for their weight, good fatigue behaviour and a predictable response to T6 ageing. That is why they are selected where a pole has to stay straight and light at the same time. Specify alloy, temper, outer diameter and wall thickness, and the tube is produced to that combination.

Extrusion and Tube Structure

Each tube starts as a hot extrusion pressed through a die that fixes the outer diameter, wall thickness and concentricity. Extrusion gives a continuous, homogeneous wall with a clean internal bore, keeping weight down and avoiding the hidden defects common in fabricated tube. Ends can be cut square, chamfered or left in mill length depending on the next operation. Round sections are standard; oval or tapered profiles can be discussed on request.

Bending and Welding Services

Bending is carried out to a defined radius and angle so the pole follows the arc of the tent structure without flattening or wrinkling at the bend. Welding covers end fittings, ferrules, sleeves and insert joints, with the weld dressed so it does not interfere with the pole's sliding or sleeving action. Because bending and welding run in the same production flow as extrusion, dimensions stay consistent between tube and finished section.

Where This Tube Is Used

This tube is used in camping tents, tunnel tents, awning frames, canopy and gazebo poles, and replacement pole sections. It also suits lightweight frame members needing the same alloy and wall thickness, such as display frames and portable structures. The surface can be left as extruded or finished to a specified appearance, and cut lengths are set to the pole drawing.

To quote accurately, provide alloy and temper (for example 7075-T6), outer diameter, wall thickness, cut length, bend radius and angle, and any welded fittings. Tolerances and finish are agreed against the drawing before production; custom sizes and OEM pole assemblies are available.
