Anodized Folding Aluminum Tent Pole, 8.5–13 mm

This is a folding and telescopic tent pole made from aluminium tube with an anodized finish. It is produced in the diameter range 8.5 mm to 13 mm, which covers the common sections used in lightweight trekking, camping and backpacking tents, where each pole segment has to be strong enough to hold the fly yet thin enough to pack down small. Pole sections are formed by bending and welding in the same production line, so the finished pole matches your specification instead of being adapted from a stock length.

Anodized Finish

The anodized surface is an oxide layer grown from the aluminium itself, so it does not flake the way a painted or dipped coating can. On a pole that is handled, folded and pushed through sleeves every time the tent is pitched, that matters: the finish resists scuffing, stays visually consistent across the set, and can be supplied in a range of colours so the pole matches the tent fabric or brand palette. Anodizing also raises surface hardness slightly compared with a bare mill finish.

Folding and Telescopic Construction

Folding poles are produced as a set of short segments joined by an internal shock cord, with ferrules or inserts at each joint. Segment lengths, the number of sections and the joint style are all set from the drawing. Telescopic versions use two or three sliding diameters that collapse into one another, using the 8.5–13 mm range so each tube nests inside the next. Bending forms end sections and curved frame members, while welding joins ferrules, caps and threaded inserts to the tube.

Bending and Welding Services

Bending is carried out to the radius and angle in the drawing, controlled so the tube keeps its circular section and does not flatten at the bend. Welding covers ferrules, end caps, sleeves and insert joints, with welds dressed so they do not catch as the pole slides through the tent sleeve. Both operations run alongside extrusion, which keeps wall thickness and diameter consistent between the bent, welded and straight segments of the same pole.
