Product Overview

This machined aluminum round tube is an extruded 6061 / 6063 aluminium alloy tube that is subsequently CNC machined, drilled, tapped and threaded to a customer drawing. It is supplied as a round hollow profile for OEM mechanical components where a light, corrosion-resistant and dimensionally repeatable tubular part is required, and it can be cut to length before or after machining depending on the assembly step.

Material and Construction

• Alloy: 6061-T6 and 6063-T5 aluminium alloy, common extrusion grades
• Form: round hollow tube produced by hot extrusion, seamless or structural
• Wall: uniform round profile, thin-wall or thick-wall sections
• Surface: mill finish with visible extrusion lines, or bright and clear anodized finish
• Length: extruded in mill lengths and cut to the ordered size

Machining Capabilities

• CNC turning and facing of the tube ends to control length and squareness
• Cross drilling and radial hole patterns located to the drawing datum
• Tapping and threading of internal or external threads for fittings and fasteners
• Counterboring, chamfering and deburring of machined edges
• Slitting, grooving and step machining where the assembly needs locating features

Machining is planned so the extruded wall thickness is preserved around threaded and drilled features, keeping the section strong at the joints.

Customization and Quality Control

Customization covers alloy grade, tube diameter and wall, cut length, hole layout, thread type and surface finish. Before machining the extrusion is checked for straightness and wall consistency; after machining the finished parts are inspected against the drawing for length, hole position, thread fit and surface condition. Sampling inspection records can travel with the shipment.
