Product Overview
Small diameter aluminum alloy round tube produced in 2024 and 7075, with outside diameters such as 10 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm. These are high strength alloys rather than general purpose grades, so the tube is aimed at parts where low weight and stiffness matter more than easy forming. Tubes are drawn and finished to tight dimensional control for use as precision components.
Alloy Characteristics
2024 is a copper bearing alloy with high fatigue resistance and good machinability, widely used in aerospace structures. Its copper content reduces corrosion resistance, so cut and machined surfaces are usually protected. 7075 is a zinc bearing alloy with strength comparable to many steels; it machines cleanly and holds fine threads well, but it is generally specified for machined rather than welded parts.

Dimensions and Tolerance
Small diameter tube is supplied with controlled outside diameter, wall thickness and straightness. Concentricity matters where the tube rotates or slides inside a bore, so wall thickness is checked around the circumference rather than at a single point. Standard outside diameters cover 10 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm, and other sizes can be produced to drawing.

Finishing
Because these alloys are less corrosion resistant than 6061, parts are commonly anodized, chromate converted or painted after machining. Anodizing gives a hard surface that also insulates electrically, and it is the usual choice where the tube will be handled or exposed.
