Aluminum LED light profiles are extruded channels that house LED strip lighting, protect it from dust and impact, and spread the light evenly. A profile gives the fixture a clean, finished look, improves heat dissipation and makes long runs of lighting appear continuous.
A standard profile has three parts: the extruded aluminum body, the diffuser and the end caps. The body is formed by pushing heated aluminum through a shaped die, producing a uniform cross section along the full length. The diffuser is a translucent cover that softens individual LED dots into a smooth band of light.
Profiles are supplied in stock lengths and cut to size. Surface mounted, recessed and suspended versions are all common, and one cross section can be adapted for corners, stairs, shelves or ceilings with purpose-made connectors.
The profile acts as both a structural channel and a heat sink. Aluminum draws heat away from the strip, helping it run cooler and keep colour and output steadier over time.
Catalog profiles cover most layouts, but many projects need a profile matched to a specific drawing. Custom extrusion lets the buyer set the width, height, wall thickness and diffuser slot, then add machining such as cut-outs, mounting holes, threaded ends or mitred corners. The surface can be left mill finish, anodized, powder coated or brushed.
Tooling is the main variable: an existing die can be reused for a standard shape, while a new cross section needs a new die before production. Buyers can send a sketch or a 3D file and have the profile matched to it.
Start with the LED strip that will sit inside the channel, because the strip width and LED height decide the smallest profile that fits. Then consider the viewing angle: a deep channel with a frosted diffuser hides the light source, while a shallow channel keeps the fixture slim.
We work with lighting brands, contractors and distributors who need aluminum profiles made to their own specification. Send the cross-section drawing, the required length, the finish and the quantity, and we will confirm what can be produced from an existing die and what would need new tooling.
Because every profile is extruded to order, changes in width, wall thickness or diffuser slot are handled at the drawing stage rather than after production. That keeps parts consistent from the first run to repeat orders and makes it easy to add a matching corner or end cap later.
