What Full Aluminum Furniture Extrusions Are
Full aluminum furniture extrusions are a family of 6063 aluminium sections used to build furniture frames, legs, rails and cabinet structures entirely from metal. Instead of a single decorative profile, this range covers the rails, uprights, corner posts and support sections that a frame needs, so a factory can complete a wood free carcass with matching alloy, finish and tolerances. The sections share the same alloy and temper, which keeps welding, anodising and powder coating consistent across the whole piece of furniture.
Section Range and Alloy
The profiles are produced from 6063-T5 aluminium, a heat treatable alloy chosen for its smooth extrusion surface and useful strength to weight ratio. Available shapes include rectangular rails, square and round legs, T and L sections, and hollow chamber sections for load bearing uprights. Wall thickness and internal ribs are set during extrusion, so long rails stay straight and legs carry the weight of a table or cabinet without bending. Sections can be supplied mill finish or with anodised, powder coated or wood grain finishes to suit the furniture style.
Where the Profiles Are Used
Furniture makers use these extrusions for all aluminium chairs, tables, work benches, shelving, display stands, cabinet frames and outdoor furniture. Because the whole frame is aluminium, the furniture does not rot, swell or rust in the way timber and mild steel can, which suits humid kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor terraces. The sections also work as a light structural skeleton behind panel doors and drawer fronts, where they keep large panels flat and reduce the weight that hinges have to carry.
Cutting and Assembly
Sections are cut to length on a mitre saw with an aluminium blade, then deburred before assembly. Frames are usually joined with internal connectors, corner brackets or cast fittings, and welded joints are used where a seamless look is wanted. When welding 6063 sections, keep the heat input low and clean the joint afterwards so the anodised or coated surface is not disturbed. Holes for hinges, screws and shelf pins can be punched or drilled on standard aluminium tooling.
Ordering and Packing
Profiles are packed in bundles with protective film or interleaving paper so the finished surfaces arrive without scuffs. Standard lengths are held for common shapes, and custom lengths, hole patterns and finishes can be produced against a furniture drawing so that a repeat programme arrives ready to assemble.
