Customized Sizes 7001 7075 Aluminum Tube For Different Colors

Introduction

This tube is produced from 7001 and 7075 aluminium alloy, two heat-treatable Al-Zn-Mg-Cu grades that are selected when an aluminium tube has to combine low weight with noticeably higher strength than ordinary 6061 or 6063 extrusion. Both materials are extruded and drawn into tube, and the outside diameter, wall thickness and length are made to order so the tube can follow a customer drawing instead of a stock size.

Why 7001 and 7075 Alloy

7001 and 7075 belong to the 7xxx series, the high-strength end of the wrought aluminium family. They are usually supplied in T6 or T651 temper, where the tube reaches a strength level well above common 6xxx alloys while keeping a density of roughly one third that of steel. A bare 7xxx surface is less corrosion resistant than 6xxx, so anodizing or painting is normal.

Customized Sizes

Because each tube is made to order, dimensions are taken from the drawing or the sample rather than from a fixed list. Outer diameter, wall thickness and cut length can each be adjusted, and the drawing process keeps wall thickness and straightness under control.

Different Colours and Finishes

The different colours in the name refer to the surface treatment. Clear or coloured anodizing is the usual finish for this tube: the anodic layer hardens and protects the surface and, in the coloured version, gives the tube its tone. Several colours can be matched within one order, which is useful when tubes have to be identified by colour.
