Product Overview
This wood grain aluminum furniture profile is a 6063-T5 aluminium extrusion developed for furniture makers who want the warm look of timber without the drawbacks of solid wood. The section is hot extruded and then finished with a wood grain transfer coating, so the surface carries a grain pattern in popular oak, walnut and teak tones while the body underneath stays dimensionally stable. Because the core is aluminium rather than timber, the profile does not absorb moisture, does not swell in humid rooms and does not attract termites.
Material and Structure
The profile is extruded from 6063-T5 aluminium alloy, a heat treatable grade that balances strength and formability. Wall thickness is controlled during extrusion so the hollow chamber section stays straight over long spans, and internal ribs add stiffness without much extra weight. The geometry suits load bearing frames such as cabinet doors, wardrobe surrounds and partition panels. The wood grain coating is applied over a prepared anodised or powder base layer, so the colour bonds to the surface and resists peeling, scratching and normal household cleaning.
Applications
Furniture factories use the profile for cabinet door frames, drawer fronts, wardrobe carcasses, shelving uprights, table aprons and decorative trims. Shop fitters use it for display units and reception counters where a wood look is specified but metal durability is needed. Being aluminium, it also works in damp areas such as kitchen units and bathroom vanities, where solid wood frames would eventually deform. The section accepts standard aluminium connectors, corner cleats and hinges, and can be cut, punched and drilled with ordinary aluminium tooling.
Surface Finish and Fabrication
The coating is offered in several timber tones, and the grain runs along the extrusion so long rails and stiles show a continuous pattern. The finish is UV stable for indoor use and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Machining follows normal 6063 practice: cut with a carbide tipped blade, deburr the ends, and seal exposed aluminium with a touch up pen if the furniture is used outdoors. Leave a small expansion gap at the joints, avoid over tightening screws near the chamber walls, and join frames with corner brackets, internal connectors or welded mitres as the design requires.
Packing and Supply
Profiles ship in standard lengths wrapped with protective film or interleaving paper to limit surface scratches in transit. Cut lengths, hole positions and mitre angles can be produced to drawings when a furniture programme repeats the same frame size.
