The seamless aluminum tube is a hollow aluminium section formed without a welded joint, produced by piercing a solid billet and cold drawing it until the wall reaches the required thickness. Because no seam runs along the length, the tube stays round and even in wall thickness, and the inner bore remains concentric with the outer diameter. That is why seamless tube is chosen for cylinder barrels, guide sleeves and bushings, where a straight, round tube has to slide or seal against a moving part without catching or leaking.
Tubes are supplied in 2024 and 7075 aluminium alloys. After forming, the tube is drawn to size, straightened and cut, and the ends are trimmed square so the piece can be set straight into a chuck or fixture. The bore is normally supplied as drawn, and it can also be bored or honed when a smoother internal surface is needed for a piston or a seal. Outside surfaces can be left mill finish, anodized, polished or coated, depending on how the part will be used and how it will look in the finished assembly.
Typical uses cover pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder barrels, shock absorber and damper bodies, pneumatic actuator sleeves, bushings, guide rods, telescopic masts and poles, antenna tubes, camera and tripod tubing, bicycle and motorcycle components, laboratory and medical equipment frames, and heat exchanger or oil cooler elements. Machine shops also buy the tube as near net shape stock, because a seamless tube close to the finished size removes far less material than boring out a solid bar and saves both machining time and scrap.
Processing can be continued beyond simple cutting. We can bore, hone, thread, tap, chamfer, polish the outer surface, anodize in clear or colour, powder coat, laser mark, or press end caps and fittings into the tube. Lengths can be supplied as standard bars or cut to the exact size the customer asks for, and tubes can be packed in bundles, in individual sleeves or in custom crates so that the surface arrives free of dents and scratches.
To quote accurately, please send the alloy, outside diameter, wall thickness, length, quantity, tolerance and surface finish you need, together with a drawing if one is available. We will confirm the drawing, the inspection points, the packing method and the delivery schedule before production starts. If only the working conditions are known, tell us the pressure, the load and the environment, and we will suggest a suitable alloy and tube size for your project.
