This seamless aluminum tube is produced without a welded seam, so the wall runs continuously around the bore instead of being joined along a longitudinal weld. That construction suits parts that must hold pressure, slide smoothly or be machined to close tolerances, such as pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder bodies. Because there is no weld line, the tube behaves more evenly when it is bored, honed or turned. Seamless construction also removes the risk of a weld seam opening up when the tube is expanded, bent or anodized, which is why it is preferred for parts that must remain leak-tight.
A seamless tube is formed from an aluminium billet that is pierced and then drawn or extruded over a mandrel, which gives a uniform wall thickness and a smooth inner surface. The absence of a weld means there is no heat-affected zone and no seam that can open under pressure or show through after anodizing. Wall thickness and concentricity are controlled along the length, which helps when the tube is used as a cylinder barrel or as a guide sleeve.
The tube can be cut, turned, bored, honed and threaded with standard aluminium tooling, and it takes anodizing, polishing or painting well. A smooth bore reduces friction against pistons and seals, while the uniform wall makes it easier to hold concentricity when the ends are machined. Because the material is uniform, thin-walled sections can be machined without a seam distorting the roundness of the bore. Cutting fluids and tooling suited to aluminium help avoid built-up edges and give a clean finish.
Tubes are checked for outer diameter, wall thickness, straightness and surface condition before dispatch. They are cut to the ordered length, deburred where required, and packed in bundles or wooden cases to protect the bore and the outside surface during transport. Where a project calls for it, tubes can be supplied with protective end caps or wrapped for longer storage.
Please confirm the outside diameter, wall thickness, length, temper and quantity when requesting a quotation. Tolerances and surface finish should be stated on the drawing, and samples can be supplied for approval. Price, MOQ and lead time are quoted per project.
