A seamless aluminum tube for heat exchangers is a drawn aluminium pipe with no welded seam along its length. The tube is formed by piercing a billet and drawing it over a mandrel until the wall is reduced to the size required, which leaves a smooth internal surface and a wall thickness that stays even around the whole circumference. With no seam to act as a weak point, the tube transfers heat evenly and holds its shape when it is bent, expanded or rolled into a coil.
These tubes are used to carry refrigerant, oil, coolant, water and air in compact heat exchange assemblies. Because the bore is clean and the wall is uniform, the tube can be expanded into fins or plates to build a radiator core, bent into serpentine coils for oil coolers and condensers, or left straight as a fluid manifold or transfer line. The outside surface can be supplied as mill finish, anodized, or coated, and the tube can be supplied in straight lengths, in coils, or pre-bent to a drawing.
Common applications include automotive oil coolers and transmission coolers, air conditioning condensers and evaporators, charge air coolers, radiator cores, solar water heating collectors, refrigeration display cases, industrial heat recovery units, and hydraulic or pneumatic fluid lines. Fabricators also use seamless aluminium tube for bicycle frames, handlebars, tent and awning poles, telescopic masts, camera sliders and lightweight structural spacers, where the strength to weight ratio of a drawn tube is an advantage.
Beyond simple cutting, we can bend, flare, expand, swage, drill, notch, thread, tumble and polish the tube, and we can add formed end fittings or brazed joints when the assembly requires them. Lengths are cut to the size stated on the order, and bundles can be packed with interleaved layers, in plastic sleeves or in custom wooden crates so that the surfaces reach the customer free of dents and scratches. Small trial quantities and full production runs are both accepted.
For a quote, please send the outside diameter, wall thickness, length, alloy and temper, quantity, surface finish and the working fluid or temperature the tube will see. If a drawing or a sample is available, we will check it against our tooling and confirm the dimensions before production starts. We will also confirm the packing method, the inspection points and the delivery schedule so that the tubes arrive ready for your line.
