2020 V-Slot Aluminum Extrusion Profile for 3D Printer Frames and CNC Workstations

The 2020 V-slot aluminum extrusion profile is a precision shaped aluminium rail built on a 20 mm x 20 mm footprint with a continuous V shaped groove running along each face. The groove accepts standard V-slot wheels, square nuts and T-nuts, so the bar can serve as a structural frame member, a linear motion track or a mounting rail without any drilling or welding. Because the slot runs the full length of the bar, brackets, motor mounts, end caps and panels can be positioned anywhere along the rail and locked with a single turn of a hex key.

Each profile is produced by hot extrusion, where heated aluminium billets are pushed through a hardened steel die to form the cross section in one continuous piece. The result is a uniform wall thickness and a straight, clean edge, which suits frames that must stay square over long spans. After extrusion the bar is straightened and cut, and the cut ends are deburred so the profile can be assembled without leaving sharp edges. A mill or anodized finish can be supplied, and the anodized surface resists fingerprints and light surface wear during handling and use.

Common applications include 3D printer and CNC machine frames, laser cutter gantries, camera sliders, workbench and workstation tops, robot bases, display stands, protective enclosures and light duty material handling racks. Small workshops choose 2020 profile because it can be cut with a common mitre saw and assembled with hand tools, while machine builders use it as a modular base that can be extended or rebuilt later without scrapping the whole frame. The same section is also used for laboratory fixtures and automation jigs that need a stiff but adjustable aluminium structure.

Lengths are normally supplied as standard bars or cut to the size required by the buyer. Holes, counterbores, threaded ends, tapped centre holes and machined notches are all possible, and end caps, corner brackets, joining plates, T-nuts and V-slot wheels can be supplied with the profile so that a complete kit arrives in one shipment. Because the groove pattern is standard, accessories from other V-slot systems generally fit the same section.
