This extruded aluminum heat sink profile is a solid aluminium section with a flat base and a row of straight fins standing on top. The fins multiply the surface area that meets the air, so heat taken from a warm component spreads along the base and leaves through the fins. Because the profile is extruded in one piece, the base and the fins form a single continuous path for heat with no bonded joint in between.
The section is supplied cut to length and can be drilled, tapped or milled so that it mounts directly on a circuit board, a lamp housing or a power module. Taller fins and closer spacing increase the surface area, while free space between the fins keeps air moving so that warm air does not sit in the channels.
The profile is pressed from aluminium alloy, a light metal with high thermal conductivity. Aluminium carries heat away from a component quickly and spreads it across the whole section, which stops hot spots forming under a single chip. A natural oxide layer forms on the surface and protects the metal in normal indoor service, and the surface can be anodised or painted when a different finish is needed.
The section comes in a range of base widths, fin heights and fin spacings so the sink can be matched to the space and the heat load of each design. Lengths are cut to size, and holes for screws, clearance slots or tapped fixing points can be added when the drawing is agreed.
Each run is checked for section dimensions, straightness, flatness of the base and surface condition. Extrusions are inspected for scratches, dents and die marks before packing, and any inspection a customer requires can be agreed when the order is placed.
Please send the profile drawing or the base width, fin height, fin spacing and length you need, together with the quantity. The section is made to order, so sizes outside the standard range can be discussed before production starts. Packing and shipment details are confirmed with each order.
