Alloy and Temper

The pipe is produced in 6063 aluminum alloy, an extrusion grade chosen for its smooth surface, good formability, and resistance to outdoor corrosion. Temper is selected to match the forming and cutting the tube will go through, and the alloy number and temper are stated on the specification so the buyer can compare it with their own design requirement. The surface can also be brushed or polished when a brighter look is wanted.

Extrusion and Tube Form

The tube is formed by hot extrusion and then drawn or sized so the outside diameter and the bore stay concentric along the length. A round section gives the even, predictable response that a chime needs, and the straightness of the tube is controlled so that finished chimes hang true and strike cleanly.
