7075 T6 Aluminum Tube for Golf Pole Shafts and Lightweight Tubular Frames

This tube is made from 7075 T6 aluminum, an alloy and temper combination that is used where a higher strength is needed than plain commercial aluminum can give. The tube is produced in a round section and is intended as raw material for parts that are turned, drilled, threaded or otherwise machined before assembly. Typical finished parts include golf club shafts and poles, frame members, spacers and other tubular components that have to stay light while carrying a load. Because aluminum weighs roughly a third as much as steel for the same volume, a 7075 T6 tube lets a designer keep the weight of a finished assembly down without switching to a heavier material. The T6 condition is reached by solution treatment followed by artificial ageing, which raises the yield strength of the alloy compared with the softer temper conditions. Parts made from this tube are therefore chosen where stiffness and strength matter more than a soft, easy to bend temper. The wall of the tube is uniform around the circumference, so the bore stays concentric with the outside diameter over the whole length. This matters on a golf shaft, where the tube has to slide into a hosel or a grip without binding, and on any frame member that is later machined on a lathe. Both the outside and the inside surfaces are clean enough for anodizing or painting, and the ends can be left square cut or chamfered to suit the next operation. Typical applications sit in sporting goods, light machinery and general tubular structures. A golf pole or shaft is the most common use, but the same tube is also chosen for tent and canopy framework, push poles, walking pole sections, tripod legs and similar tubular assemblies. In each case the tube acts as the load carrying member, so the grade, the wall thickness and the outside diameter are chosen together rather than one at a time. The grade and temper are kept the same from one batch to the next so that the following parts match the first delivery. Tubes are packed in bundles or in protective sleeves so that the surfaces are not scratched or dented in storage and transport. Because aluminum is a soft material in thin walls, handling and stacking during shipment are kept in mind, and the packing is chosen to suit the length and quantity on the order. The length, outside diameter, wall thickness and quantity are agreed with the buyer before the order is released.
