The anodised aluminium round pipe is a circular hollow section supplied with a coloured anodised finish in black, blue and red. The pipe is formed by extrusion and then anodised, a process that grows an oxide layer on the aluminium surface itself. Because the colour sits inside that oxide layer instead of in a painted film on top of it, the pipe arrives ready for cutting and assembly without a further painting or coating operation.

Material and finish

The pipe is made from aluminium alloy and finished by anodising. In anodising the part is made the anode in an acid electrolyte so that a controlled oxide layer forms on the surface, and dyes introduced during the process give the black, blue and red colours. The result is a coloured surface that is part of the metal, in contrast to paint, which is a separate film sitting on the substrate.

Range and dimensional control

The pipe is supplied in a range of outside diameters and wall thicknesses and in cut lengths to order. Outside diameter, wall thickness and straightness are the dimensions that decide how the pipe performs in a pole, a frame or a display stand, and they should be confirmed before ordering. Where a specific colour match matters, the finish is best agreed from a physical sample rather than from a screen image.

Fabrication

The pipe can be cut with a carbide-tipped saw, drilled, and joined with standard pipe fittings, connectors or brackets. Aluminium is light, so long poles and frame members can be carried and positioned by hand. A cut end exposes the base metal, which is normal; where a cut end will stay visible, a touch-up or an end cap can be specified.
