Aluminium Telescopic Tube in the 6000 Series

This aluminium telescopic tube is made from alloy aluminium in the 6000 series, a family chosen where light weight, strength and durability have to work together. The tube is extruded, so it runs hollow with a uniform wall thickness and a consistent cross section, and one length slides inside the next to give an adjustable reach for poles and frames. Because the wall is uniform, the tube keeps its roundness when it is cut to length, which helps a clean sliding fit between sections.

Alloy and Material

The material is alloy aluminium in the 6000 series. The alloying elements give the tube the mechanical properties needed for structural and load-bearing work, while keeping the weight low enough for poles and frames that have to be carried and handled. Hardness is around 80 HB and tensile strength around 200 MPa, so the tube holds its shape under normal working loads.

Shapes, Sizes and Temper

Tube is produced in a round profile. Outer diameter ranges from 20 mm to 2000 mm and wall thickness from 0.25 mm up to 40 mm, with a dimensional tolerance of about plus or minus 1 percent. Temper can be supplied from T3 through to T8, so the tube can be ordered softer for bending or harder for rigid frames and telescopic joints that must stay tight in use. Round tube in this range can be supplied in matched sizes so that one size slides smoothly inside the next, which is the basis of a working telescopic assembly.

Surface Finish and Colour

Several surface treatments are available. Mill finish leaves the natural extruded surface, anodizing builds a hard oxide layer in natural, red, yellow, blue or green tones, and powder coating provides an even coloured coating. The finish can be matched to decorative and industrial requirements.

Working and Applications

The tube can be bent, decoiled, welded, punched and cut into finished frames, telescopic assemblies and shaped pipelines. It is used for telescopic poles, tent and tarp poles, camping and outdoor frames, decorative and architectural profiles, and industrial tubing. Outdoor users choose aluminium for its light weight and for the way it holds up to weathering, which keeps long assemblies easy to handle on site.

Supply and Quality Control

The tube is produced in Jiangsu, China, by an extrusion route that starts from heated billet and finishes with straightening and cutting to length, with wall thickness, straightness and surface condition checked before despatch. It is supplied in straight lengths or in coils to suit the assembly being built.
