Aluminum Tent Pole with Inner Rubber String
This tent pole is built from aluminum tube sections held together by a rubber string running through the inside of the tube. The string keeps the sections joined in their set order and lets the pole fold down for storage and straighten again when the tent is pitched, so a full pole run can be handled as one part instead of a bundle of loose lengths.
How the Pole Is Made Up

What the Inner Rubber String Does
A rubber string inside the tube holds the sections in their set order, so the pole can be shaken out and straightened in one movement. When the tent comes down, the same string draws the sections back together so the pole folds into a compact bundle, and the small amount of movement at each joint helps the run follow the curve of the tent sleeve as it is pushed through.
Use as Replacement Poles
The pole is supplied as a replacement part for tents where a pole has been bent, cracked or lost, which keeps a tent in service without replacing the whole tent. Because it arrives as one strung run, it can be fed through the pole sleeve and the end tips seated in the same way as the original, matched to the length and the number of sections of the pole being replaced.
Material and Finish
The tubing is made from aluminum, which keeps the pole light to carry while still holding its shape under the load of a pitched tent. Aluminum does not contain iron, so it does not rust in the way a steel pole does, and it can be supplied with a plain mill finish or an anodized surface. The rubber string sits inside the tube and is not exposed once the pole is assembled.
Pitching, Folding and Storage
To pitch a tent, the pole is unfolded section by section until the joints seat, then the run is pushed through the tent sleeve or clipped to the tent until the end tips locate. To take the tent down, the pole is parted at each joint and the rubber string draws the sections together. After use, wipe the tube dry and let the pole air before putting it away, then store it in its bag away from sharp edges.
