What the 6000 Series Gives the Tube

The tube is made from aluminium alloy in the 6000 series, a family that combines aluminium with magnesium and silicon and is widely chosen for extruded tube because it forms well and holds its shape after working. How Heat Extrusion Shapes the Tube

Heat extrusion is the process used to form the tube. A heated aluminium billet is pushed through a shaped die, so the metal flows into a continuous round section of the required outside diameter and wall. Because the section is formed in one pass, the wall stays consistent along the length and the surface arrives smooth and ready for finishing.

Anodizing and Appearance

The tube is then anodized, an electrochemical treatment in which the tube is made the anode in an acid bath and a controlled current builds an oxide layer that grows out of the metal itself rather than sitting on top of it. Camping tent frames use the round section for poles and stays, where light weight and stiffness matter, while household appliance parts use the same tube for supports, rails and small structural members. Wipe the tube down after use and store it dry to preserve the anodized finish.
