Custom Twist Lock Telescopic Pole With Thread Connected Joints
This twist lock telescopic pole is built with a threaded connection between sections, so the joint locks by turning rather than by a separate clamp. Sections are custom made, which means the diameter and the extended length are set by the drawing you supply.
Where it is used
A telescopic pole of this type shows up wherever a support has to be raised, locked and lowered again: tent and awning frames, tarp and gazebo uprights, banner stands, camera and light stands, cleaning poles and display backdrops. The threaded joint is the reason buyers pick it over a plain friction lock, because a twist lock holds its setting under load and does not creep while the pole is carrying weight.
How to choose
Number of sections: work back from the packed length you need to carry. More sections mean a shorter pack and more joints to keep tight.
Joint type: this telescopic pole uses a thread connected twist lock. If the assembly is handled often by the same person, a twist lock is quick; if it is set once and left, a fixed pin may be simpler.
Diameter and wall: give the outer diameter of each section you intend to nest, and the wall thickness that has to carry the load.
Length: state both the collapsed and the extended length on the drawing, because the telescopic pole is made to those two numbers rather than to a stock size.
Finish: anodizing is the usual finish for aluminium sections and keeps the sliding surfaces from galling.
End fittings: say whether the ends of the telescopic pole need threads, caps, a spike or a flat foot, and where along the section the lock has to sit.
