Overview
Thread connected aluminum tube is a general aluminium product supplied for industrial and project use. Aluminium is chosen where a low weight, corrosion-resistant and non-magnetic material is wanted, and a product of this kind is normally selected against a drawing, a sample or a written specification rather than a fixed catalogue list. The exact alloy, size, temper and finish are usually confirmed with the buyer before an order is placed.
Alloy and material
Aluminium alloys are grouped into series such as 1000, 3000, 5000, 6000 and 7000, and the series affects strength, formability, weldability and corrosion behaviour. Grade 7075 is one of the higher-strength aluminium alloys, used where strength and low weight are the deciding factors. It is less readily welded than grades such as 6061, so thread-connected and machined joints are often preferred, and the exact alloy and temper are confirmed against the application. The final alloy is confirmed against the requirements of the application rather than assumed.
Dimensions and tolerances
