What this heat sink is
This heat sink is a CNC machined part cut and milled from 6000 series aluminum alloy, so the base, the fins and the mounting holes come off the machine in one setup. Because the heat sink is machined rather than cast, the wall between the fins can be kept thin and even, and the heat sink is supplied in T3 to T8 temper with a tolerance of plus or minus ten percent.
Where this heat sink is used
Buyers order this heat sink for electronics and LED cooling, power supplies, inverters, motor drives and instrument housings. Each heat sink is milled to the drawing, and it can be bent, punched, decoiled or welded where a bracket or a duct has to be joined to it.
How this heat sink is machined
The block is machined on CNC centres that cut, mill and drill to the model, which keeps the fin spacing constant along the part. Because the program is held, each heat sink matches the one before it, and the heat sink can be supplied as a single piece or as a set for one assembly.
How to choose this heat sink
Start from the heat load and the space available, because those two figures decide the base thickness and the fin area. Then choose the alloy and the temper, since 6000 series machines cleanly and suits precision work like this heat sink. Finally agree the tolerance and the interface, because the heat sink is quoted from the drawing you send.
What to confirm before you order this heat sink
Confirm the alloy and temper, the base thickness, the fin height and pitch, the footprint and the tolerance. Confirm as well whether the heat sink needs tapped holes, a milled step or a machined interface, because those operations change the price and the lead time of the heat sink. Prototypes and production runs are quoted at 22 to 30 days after the drawing is agreed.
