What This Extruded Aluminium Tube Is
An extruded aluminum tube is made by forcing heated aluminium alloy through a die, so the hollow section is produced as one continuous piece. This tube is produced from 6061 alloy in the T6 temper, a heat treated condition that gives the section its hardness and its ability to hold shape after bending. It can be supplied in round, oval, square or irregular sections, with a wall thickness from 0.2 mm to 20 mm and lengths from 1 m up to 12 m, all made to customized dimensions. The surface can be left mill finished or given an anodized or powder coated treatment, and the finish is described as offering superior anti scratch and anti corrosion performance.
Where It Is Used
Extruded aluminium tube is used across industry, decoration, medical equipment and agriculture. Typical work includes machine frames and guards, handrails and trolleys, window and door trim, display and shop fitting frames, medical bed and trolley parts, irrigation and greenhouse frames, and decorative trims. Because the tube arrives in long lengths and is then cut, bent and welded, the same section can serve a straight run, an arched handle or a closed loop.
How to Choose the Right Tube
Begin with the section. Round tube is the most efficient in torsion and is the usual choice for handles and rollers; square and rectangular tube is easier to join and gives flat faces for brackets; oval and irregular sections are chosen where the visible shape matters. Then fix the wall thickness, since 0.2 mm to 20 mm is a wide range and the wall decides both the weight and the stiffness of the part. Choose the alloy and temper next: 6000 and 7000 series are both available, and 6061 T6 is chosen here for a good balance of strength, weldability and finish. Decide the fabrication the tube must carry before the order is placed, because bending, welding, punching, decoiling and cutting are offered as part of the supply. Finally choose the finish, mill, anodized or powder coated, and the length, from 1 m to 12 m or a customized cut list.
What to Confirm Before Ordering
Before ordering, confirm the section shape, the outside dimensions, the wall thickness and the length, because these decide whether the tube fits the frame and how much it weighs. Confirm the alloy and temper, and whether the tube will be welded. Confirm which secondary operations are needed, bending, welding, punching or cutting, and where they fall in the process relative to the surface finish. Confirm the finish, mill, anodized or powder coated, the colour, and whether the coating has to survive bending. The tube is supplied against the EN, DIN, ASTM, JIS and GB/T standards listed for the material, and a tolerance of plus or minus 10 percent applies to the specified dimensions.
