Custom Anodized Aluminum Tube in 6061, 7005 and 7075 T6
This tube is extruded from 6061, 7005 or 7075 aluminium in the T6 temper and then finished to the drawing supplied by the customer. The three alloys cover different priorities: 6061 for general strength and easy fabrication, 7005 for a stiffer, lighter section, and 7075 for the highest strength of the group.
Extruded tube is produced by pushing heated alloy through a die, which gives a consistent wall and a clean surface along the full length. The tube can then be anodised, which grows a hard oxide layer on the surface to resist scratching and corrosion and to hold a colour.
Bending and Welding Services
Secondary operations are carried out in house so a customer can order a finished part rather than raw tube:
- Rotary draw and mandrel bending for smooth, oval-free bends
- TIG welding of brackets, bosses and end fittings
- Cutting, drilling and machining to the drawing
- Anodising or other surface treatment after fabrication
Bending is planned around the bend radius and wall thickness, because a tight radius on a thin wall will flatten the section. Where a bend is close to a weld, the sequence is set so the heat of welding does not distort the finished shape.
Tolerances, Testing and Delivery
Batches are checked against the agreed drawing for diameter, wall thickness, length, bend angle and finish. Anodised parts are inspected for an even coating and colour, and welded assemblies can be pressure or dye tested where the customer asks for it.
Wall thickness sets how the tube behaves in service. A heavier wall resists bending and takes a thread or a weld more easily, while a thinner wall saves weight where the part is short and lightly loaded. The choice is made with the customer against the load the finished part must carry.
Cut ends are deburred so the tube is safe to handle and fits cleanly into a mating part. Where a tube is threaded, the thread is cut after the tube is cut to length so the assembled part reaches the dimension on the drawing.
Small batches and repeat orders are handled the same way. The drawing, alloy and operations are kept on file, so a later order can be made to match the first without reworking the details.
Custom tube suits frames, poles, handles, railings, sports equipment and machine parts. To quote, we need the alloy and temper, the outside diameter and wall thickness, the length, and any bending or welding detail. A drawing or a sample part is the quickest way to start, and we will confirm the tube and the operations before production begins.
