Aluminum Extrusion Tube 6061 6063 7075 Rectangular Tubing for Structural Frames and Heat Exchangers
Rectangular aluminum tubing in 6061, 6063 and 7075 alloys for frames, machine guards and exchangers
Aluminum extrusion tube is made by heating an aluminum billet and pushing it through a steel die that forms a continuous profile. The die sets the outside shape and the mandrel sets the inside shape, so the finished tube keeps a uniform wall thickness and a consistent cross section along its full length. The rectangular tubing described here is produced in 6061, 6063 and 7075 alloys, three heat treatable grades often specified for industrial fabrication work.
Alloy 6061 combines magnesium and silicon and responds well to solution heat treatment and artificial aging. It offers good mechanical strength, good corrosion resistance in normal atmospheric service and very good weldability, so it suits structural frames, machine guards, work platforms, trailer parts and general engineering fabrication.
Alloy 6063 carries lower amounts of magnesium and silicon, extruding faster and producing a smoother surface than 6061. It is usually supplied in T5 or T6 temper and is often anodized, because the fine surface takes an even anodic coating. Typical uses include architectural trim, window frames, handrails and display structures where finish quality matters as much as strength.
Alloy 7075 uses zinc with magnesium and copper and reaches very high strength among aluminum alloys. It is chosen for highly loaded parts such as aircraft fittings, tooling plates, high stress brackets and bicycle components. As 7075 is less weldable than the 6xxx family, it is normally joined with fasteners or rivets instead of fusion welding.
Rectangular and square sections give flat sides that are easy to join and clamp, which suits frames, carts, trolleys, guard rails, battery boxes and heat exchanger support structures. Wall thickness, outside dimensions and corner radius are set by the extrusion die, so a dedicated die is prepared for each new size before production starts.
Surface finishing options include mill finish, anodized and powder coated treatments, selected according to the final environment and the appearance requirement. Anodizing builds a controlled oxide layer on the surface, while powder coating applies a colored polymer layer after the tube has been cut and machined.
Fabrication work such as cutting to length, drilling, tapping and bending can be discussed for each order, together with the drawing, the alloy and temper, the wall thickness and the quantity. Please send the section drawing or the required outside dimensions plus the alloy, temper and finish you need, and the sales team will confirm the tooling and the production schedule.
